I have also analysed this poster for the following components: Media language, Genre, Representation, Narrative and Audience.
The positioning of the two characters on opposite sides in a double bed suggests that the they are a couple and that the film's genre is a romance, this implies that the audience is female based however men are welcome to watch. Jennifer Aniston's facial expression appears slightly annoyed and mischievous towards the male character and Vince Vaughn looks unhappy and as both of their arms are crossed this shows that they are both annoyed. I think that Jennifer Aniston is represented as the more dominant character as she is glaring at Vince as he is cowing under the covers slightly. The tape in the middle separates them both onto separate sides, this implies that the film contains humour regarding a troubled couple making the sub genre of the film a Romantic Comedy. The films title is, 'The Break Up' and its tag line is, 'Pick a side', both suggest that the couple has broken up and that this break up plays a large part in the narrative. I think that because the narrative is about a break up, it is aimed at a mature audience as it is likely to contain inappropriate language throughout that won't be suitable for the younger generation.
