Genre Research (Film Poster) Drama

For the Drama genre I have chosen: Forrest Gump (1994)

Codes and conventions
The codes and conventions within this film poster are the title, and the credits of the film and the header. The header explains that 'The world will never be the same once you've seen it through the eyes of Forest Gump' this automatically tells the audience that the film is powerful and touching, persuading them to watch it.
Sub genre
Romance

Film examples
Other films of the same genre are Titanic, Pride and Prejudice and Roman Holiday.
Audiences
the target audience for this film is for adults and older teenagers because the film contains use of strong language, implied hard drug use and moderate sex scenes throughout the film and the storyline is to complicated for a child to understand. The film is appealing to males and females because stereotypically many woman would enjoy the romance element of the film whereas the men would enjoy watching the action elements of the film.

Colours
The white background helps the dark colours of the text and image to stand out effectively.

Lighting
High key lighting is used and makes the poster look bold and interesting.

Characters
The main character (Tom Hanks) is sat on a bed alone in the image with a suitcase next to him, this gives the impression to the audience that he is going on a journey and intrigues them to find out where he is going.
